Massage Therapy Near Me

At Dakota Chiropractic in Apple Valley, we pride ourselves on taking a more personal and therapeutic approach to massage therapy. We offer Massage Therapy services for established chiropractic patients as well as individuals who have never worked with us for Chiropractic care before. Whether you’re looking to accompany your treatment plan, or you want to achieve specific goals outside of Chiropractic Care, we can help.

What Is Therapeutic Massage?

Therapeutic massage is a unique type of massage that uses a combination of pressure and movement to treat the entire body.

Therapeutic massage has been proven to improve range of motion, decrease pain, increase flexibility, reduce stress, increase blood flow, and relax muscles.

It is a highly effective form of massage therapy that focuses on results versus relaxing and has been shown to help in a variety of health conditions.

What Types of Massages Do You Offer?

We take a holistic approach to treating our clients by combining multiple types of therapeutic massage in one session. This means you don’t have to worry about booking the right type of massage.

You may experience any of the following types of therapeutic massage during your appointment:

Therapeutic Trigger Point Massage Therapy

Releasing a muscle knot to reduce pain.

Swedish Techniques

A combination of kneading, rolling, vibration, percussive, and tapping movements with oils.

Shiatsu Asian Bodywork

Kneading, pressing, soothing, tapping, and stretching techniques and is performed without oils.

Therapeutic massage is safe and gentle for all ages and fitness levels. Therapeutic massage does not cause any damage or injury to the body.

Cupping Therapy involves creating suction to pull blood into the skin.  It can be an effective treatment for both acute and chronic conditions such as sore muscles and spasms.  It can also help with other types of conditions such as improving immune function, improving skin conditions, and decreasing congestion.  Because we are increasing blood flow to the treated area, there are many other conditions that could benefit from this type of therapy.

Cupping is a very safe, and non-invasive treatment.  However, because we bring blood to the surface, you may experience bruising in that area. The marks left on the skin shouldn’t hurt and typically disappear after 10 days.

What Is Guided Stretching?

Guided Stretching uses specific techniques to increase the mobility and flexibility of a muscle or group of muscles. It is a gentle approach that can be used by children, adults, the elderly, and those with physical disabilities. Our Massage Therapist will look at your range of motion, flexibility, limitations, alignment, pain, and discomfort levels. They will also take into account your goals and develop a stretching program that will gradually help you reach those goals.

Stretching is an essential component of maintaining optimum health. Stretching provides numerous health benefits, including increased range of motion and flexibility, improved circulation, improved posture, stress relief, and pain relief.

Guided Stretching is very safe. However, you may experience a little muscle soreness afterward. Keeping hydrated and continuing the stretching exercises are important for your long-term success.

Massage frequency and duration will depend on the type of massage you want and the area you want to target.

For general health and relaxation, massages are recommended 1-2 times a month for people under light to moderate stress.

For people in high-stress occupations or living conditions or frequent travelers, a higher frequency of massage treatments, weekly or bi-weekly, is recommended.

For reduction and pain management massage therapy, we recommend 1-3 times in the first week. As the pain is reduced, so is the frequency of the massage therapy.

Each person’s needs are different. Our Massage Therapist will work with you to discuss a treatment plan that works for you and your budget.
